EMBROIDERY FOR BEGINNERS WORKSHOP

A stitch in time….

If you have ever wanted to hand mend or customise clothes, make thoughtful gifts, or simply pick up a mindful new hobby then embroidery sounds like it’s for you!

This workshop is ideal for absolute sewing beginners or people who haven’t picked up a needle in years. Learn about the history of embroidery, become a master of various hand-stitching techniques, and start your own project! These are relaxed and playful sessions that encourage participants to work within their own capabilities and styles. Every embroidery is a good embroidery!

The workshop price includes all basic materials and tools and a light morning/afternoon tea. You will also get a very special take-home kit with all the things you will need to continue your new hobby at home:

- Embroidery hoop
- Needle
- 5 x embroidery floss
- Carbon Paper

FAQS

How does it work?
Your workshop fee covers all materials and a take-home kit. We will start with the very basics - threading a needle and then work on a sampler of some of the most useful stitches. We can then talk about your project ideas and get started. You are welcome to bring an item of clothing to stitch onto (a denim jacket is perfect, so is non-stretch material like cotton and linen) but I will also have lots of material and tote bags on hand.

Can kids come?
I will run the occasional kids workshops but this one is designed for ages 15 up. Anyone under 18 is required to be accompanied by a paying adult. Thanks for understanding.

What are the venues like?
Melville: Held at a private gallery space, this is a quiet and relaxed venue with couches and armchairs. Unfortunately, there are no accessible toilets on site.

Perth: Get exclusive access to Members Club Lawson Flats including Luis’ Bar for after workshop drinks.

Can you do private workshops?
Yep! I often run small, private workshops that are perfect for birthdays, hen nights, or for people who need a lower sensory environment. Get in contact with me and we can start planning :)
